what i say to almost every first time client
If you've ever sat in my treatment room for your first facial, there's a good chance you've heard me say this:
Consistency with the right products will always outperform constantly trying the newest ones.
We live in a world where skincare trends change by the week. One day it's a viral serum, the next it's a new acid or miracle ingredient promising overnight results. It's tempting to think the next product will finally be "the one."
But healthy skin doesn't work that way.
Your Skin Loves Consistency
Your skin is an organ, and like the rest of your body, it thrives on stability. Every time you introduce a new product, your skin has to adapt. Constantly switching products can make it difficult to know what's actually helping—and can leave your skin confused, irritated, and unable to fully recover.
Instead of chasing quick fixes, I encourage my clients to build a routine that supports the skin day after day.
When you consistently use products that are appropriate for your skin type and concerns, your skin begins to function the way it was designed to.
That's where real transformation happens.
Trust the Process
One of the hardest parts of any skincare journey is being patient.
Skin cells take time to renew, inflammation takes time to calm, and your skin barrier takes time to repair. It's completely normal not to see dramatic changes after just a week or two.
The clients who experience the biggest transformations aren't necessarily using the most products—they're simply staying consistent.
They trust the process.
Hydration Comes Before Correction
Another thing I tell almost every client is this:
Before we focus on correcting your skin, we need to support it.
Whether you're dealing with acne, sensitivity, pigmentation, redness, or premature aging, hydration is one of the most important foundations for healthy skin.
Hydrated skin functions better.
When your skin has enough water and a healthy barrier, it can:
Better regulate oil production
Heal inflammation more efficiently
Tolerate active ingredients with less irritation
Maintain a stronger protective barrier
Develop a smoother, healthier complexion
Many people think they need stronger products to "fix" their skin, when in reality their skin is simply dehydrated and overworked.
Less Can Truly Be More
Healthy skin doesn't require a 12-step routine.
It requires the right routine.
A gentle cleanser, targeted treatment products when appropriate, daily hydration, and consistent sun protection will often produce far better results than constantly experimenting with new products.
Simple. Intentional. Consistent.
My Advice
If you're starting your skincare journey, resist the urge to buy every trending product you see online.
Find products that are formulated for your skin, commit to using them consistently, and give your skin the time it needs to respond.
Your skin isn't looking for perfection.
It's looking for balance.
And when you consistently provide that support, your skin will begin functioning at its best—and the results will speak for themselves.
